Korean language course:

What is it about?

This course will enable you to travel in and around Korea using some basic Korean. The language acquired will help enable initial contact, both face-to-face and over the telephone, and support a warmer interface with those you meet. Typically, you will be able to deal with practical functions such as hotel accommodation, transport (taxis etc.), restaurants, purchases, and be able to present yourself in Korean on a social and business level.

SPEAKING:

At A1 level you will be able to:

Develop a repertoire of simple phrases for use in specific situations.
Interact in a simple way provided the other person is prepared to repeat or rephrase things at a slower rate of speech.
Ask and answer simple questions in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics.

LISTENING

At A1 level you will be able to:

Recognise familiar words and very basic phrases concerning; yourself, your family and immediate concrete surroundings when people speak slowly and clearly.
Follow simple and clearly-articulated speech, given time to assimilate meaning.

READING:

At the A1 level you will be able to:

Understand very short and simple Korean-language texts, and be able to pick up familiar names, words, and basic phrases.
Understand familiar names, words and very simple sentences, for example on notices and posters or in catalogs.

WRITING:

At the A1 level you will be able to:

Write a short, simple postcard, for examples sending holiday greetings.
Fill in forms with personal details, for example entering your name, nationality and address on a hotel registration form.
